So much talk about AI over the past couple of years. Clearly it’s here to stay, but what does that mean for your business? How do the various AI “tools” present information about your business when someone is searching for you – or the products and services you offer?
Do you even show up? If so, is the information accurate? To be clear, I’m not talking about your Google (Bing, etc.) business profile – which should always be complete and up to date. I’m talking about the AI results that show up at the top of the page on a search results page.
I had some questions about how to get my website to show up in these AI results – and what changes I should be making to my website to help make that more likely. I found a couple of helpful articles where others have asked themselves this same question. You’ll find them listed below; they are both worth a read.
So … I asked AI – in this case ChatGPT, to review my Home and About pages and website structure and tell me what messages my site is sending to site visitors.
Here’s the prompt I used: I am curious about how you would see and describe my business (mywebsite.com) and present those results to someone searching for my business or the products/content I offer online. Take a look at the home page, the about page, and my website structure. I want to know about the positioning, clarity, and discoverability of my business.

The results were a little surprising – and as I asked for recommendations, based on the response to my prompt, I found myself agreeing with most of what ChatGPT had to say about my site. I have some work to do. I encourage you to use the prompt above – or your own variation, and see what comes back. Try it in more than one AI tool – see where they line up, and where they differ. The results may surprise you.
