I learned about a different kind of email metric recently. It has me thinking about how to incorporate it into my own metrics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I learned about this interesting metric from Anne Handley<\/strong> in a recent webinar. Anne is the author of the <a href=\"https:\/\/annhandley.com\/everybodywrites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Completely Revised and Expanded &#8211; Everybody Writes<\/a>. She also writes the fortnightly &#8220;Annarchy&#8221; Newsletter. She\u2019s written a great blog post about this email metric &#8211; and why it\u2019s so important.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The email metric? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>How many people<\/strong> reach out to you &#8211; as a direct result of your email newsletter?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The more people that reach out to you<\/strong> with a comment or a question &#8211; the higher likelihood that your message has resonated with your readers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s a distinctly analog metric<\/strong> &#8211; but asking for a reply &#8211; and then responding to them is critical for personalizing the experience.
